Happy Juice Loaded Water

Happy Juice Loaded Water

Let's make a “Happy Juice Loaded Water,” Herbally Grounded style!

Ingredients

  • 4-6 Tbsp - Black and/or White Chia Seeds
  • 1 Packet/Scoop - Electrolyte Powder (We used Mixed Berry from Re-Lyte)
  • 1 16-fl oz - Spring Water
  • 1 16.9 fl oz Can - Taste Nirvana Coconut Water (Sodium = 130 mg)
  • 1 12 fl oz Can - Alternative Soda (We used grape from Poppi)
  • 1 Tbsp - Herbal Tincture (We used Happy Juice in our Recipe)

Directions

  1. Add 16 oz of Spring Water and Taste Nirvana Coconut Water to a large pitcher or mason jar.  Next, add the chia seeds, give it a stir, and set it aside in the fridge to swell for up to an hour.

  2. Once the chia seeds have swollen, add an electrolyte packet of your choice to the water and stir until fully dissolved.  (If using a mason jar, you can close it and shake it if the electrolytes are having difficulty dissolving or the chia seeds are clumping.)

  3. Add some ice, your Alternative Soda of choice, a tablespoon of your favorite tincture, give it a quick stir to mix, and it is ready to serve!

A “loaded water” can count towards hydration, but it would still be best to partner this deliciously fun option alongside plenty of simple, quality water every day.  I would suggest that you read all of the information on the electrolyte packet, coconut water, and fizzy beverage you choose to watch the sodium and sugar level of the total mixture.  A person should not consume more than 1300mg of Sodium per day.  This includes the combined sources naturally occurring in mineralized or spring water, food, and salt which has been added to food and beverages.

Infused waters, lemonades, and flavored water (like this recipe) can be helpful when individuals are trying to increase their water intake and/or trying to transition from sugary, non-hydrating options like juice and soda.  There can also be seasons in a person’s life where it can become difficult to drink plain water, whether a person finds it boring or unpalatable.  Pregnancy immediately comes to mind, but it is also fairly common among individuals on the Spectrum and those with symptoms associated with Dementia and Alzheimer's.
